Fall 2024 Reflections
A quarterly note from BBCIC Executive Director Cate Lockhart, MS, PharmD, PhD.
November 2024
Dear BBCIC Participants and Supporters,
WHAT A YEAR it has been!
At the AMCP Nexus meeting we had our BBCIC In-Person (and virtual) meeting, and it was extremely engaging and energizing as usual. At one point we broke into groups to brainstorm about the biggest issues in biosimilars they anticipate in the near- and longer-term so that we can be sure BBCIC is prepared to address the most pressing issues. This kind of group effort is essential to us as your multiple and variable viewpoints are key to the success of our consortium. We will continue to refine all of the feedback to aid in building our strategy for the next year and beyond. A summary of our Nexus meeting is below in this newsletter.
We have a new manuscript published, a second was accepted for publication, and an additional four are in preparation or undergoing internal review with the goal to submit by the first quarter of 2025 or before. We have also presented four posters this year, with another two set to present at ISPOR Europe coming up in Barcelona on November 17-20, 2024.
On a personal note, this year has been more dramatic than most for me. For those who don’t know, I live in Asheville, NC. I absolutely love my gorgeous, friendly, amazing mountain town! We could never have imagined having a hurricane hit this far inland and up in our higher elevations. It just doesn’t happen. Until this year. I am very lucky – while there is a large tree leaning against my house, the damage is minimal, and I had no other damage from flood waters that affected so many. I know people who watched their house float off the foundation and down the overflowing river. Some of the most stunning devastation was in our beloved River Arts District, where old warehouses housed hundreds of Asheville artist studios. Art is the pulse of Asheville, and the loss is tragic. Cleanup and rebuilding is going to take a long time, and some areas will never be the same. Thankfully we are resilient mountain people who love our home so we will get there. Thank you to everyone who has reached out with care and concern, it means the world to me!
As always, we have a lot going on, and I have to say CONGRATULATIONS to all of BBCIC for your ongoing support, enthusiasm, and perseverance to continue to produce high-quality, important research. And I have to say THANK YOU for all those same reasons. We are tiny but mighty!
It takes a village to raise a consortium, and we are grateful for your continued support and engagement!
Kind Regards,
Cate Lockhart, MS, PharmD, PhD
